13-ounce kitten left filthy, and abandoned in the cold in Massachusetts dies, shelter says
A kitten in Massachusetts has died and animal advocates say it should have never happened.
According to the Quincy Animal Shelter, on Christmas Eve a good Samaritan heard a cry on the side of the road in Marina Bay, Quincy. She stopped and found a beat-up cat carrier with a single orange kitten crying inside. She took the kitten home he was frail and wouldn’t eat so, she reached out for help and the Quincy Animal Shelter took the kitten on Christmas morning.
This precious kitten weighed 13 ounces cold and filthy, left to die.
On Thursday morning, the kitten, who they named Miracle, took a turn for the worse.
On Thursday afternoon, the shelter announced that Miracle passed away at VCA South Shore Hospital of pneumonia.
“There was nothing that could be done. My husband and I did everything we could to keep him comfortable. We really hoped that he would make it. This is a very sad story. This tiny kitten never should’ve been abandoned. There was no need for him to suffer. We will probably never know exactly what happened or why he was left to die. I am not going to dwell on the negative. Because of all of the good people who stepped up to help. That is what really matters. let’s focus on making sure people understand that there is always help available.”
No word yet on who is responsible for abandoning the kitten.
