12 Fall River police officers teaming up for Special Olympics Polar Plunge
12 Fall River police officers are teaming up to help a charity close to their heart.
Sergeant Joe Galvao has assembled a team from the Fall River Police Department to participate in the 2021 MA Special Olympics Polar Plunge.
The group is looking to raise at least $2,000 in hopes of supporting the organization and the athletes.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Special Olympics needs community support now more than ever so the athletes can continue to train and compete safely with their teammates.
After halting competition from March to July, athletes have been welcomed back to the field. Special Olympics Massachusetts provides sports opportunities to over 14,000 athletes of all ages.
Sergeant Galvao, who is the team captain, has a daughter with special needs so he knows first hand how important this organization is.
In addition to Sergeant Galvao, Chief Jeff Cardoza, Zachary Vorce, Tim Magan, Nicholas Magan, Matthew Gauvin, Kristopher Sousa, David Delvalle, Brandon Pacheco, Corey Dolan, Rachel Silvia, and William Platt are also listed as team members.
