Video of Fall River Police goes viral

Published

on

The area of the old Sam’s Club has become cause for concern among city residents.

Between trash accumulating and cars/trucks sitting in the lot, much has been said on the situation on social media.

Fall River Police worked together with this car group to come up with a compromise.

What are your thoughts?

The officer was more than professional. I commend him & the other officers at that moment. However 1 incident turns into 2 then 4. I’m not sure what part of vagranty and trespassing are okay on anyone’s property. Not to mention any other misdemeanors that may have been found. At that moment it might have been the right move. But just like children, irresponsible adults & criminals they will always push authorities and society to the edge! There needs to be no next time. This cannot become an ongoing viral epidemic.

I’ve lived in Fall River most of my life. What happened there is not the community! Nothing but a bunch of undesirables having no respect for property or community. Enough of this (We need to respect one another)! If any of them had any respect they wouldn’t have been there to begin with. Our police are in a no win situation. Maybe if there were more in tacked families, there would be less of this. P.S. I just realized that it is that time of the month. They were already near by!

I think it was a great compromise. I would hope the others would do their part as well and keep the place clean on top of that.

We used to do this when I was a kid. We would play frisbee in the empty Fall River Mall parking lot. Police would hang at the Burger King but we just played. Cops don’t have to be ********, this one isn’t. There are bad cops though, don’t kid yourself into thinking this is the norm.

Actually, this is the norm if you’re respectful.

Whoever hired that officer should get a pat on the back, and the officer himself should be considered for some sort of commendation. What an incredibly diplomatic way to handle this matter! He settled things as a win-win situation for everyone involved. This officer has a special gift. Like with every profession, there are good cops and not-so-good cops – but it appears this officer is at the top of the heap.

In today’s society we never know what type of people that feel the need to “hang out” in any store parking lot. This is NOT a good idea, though the officer involved did handle the group with respect, they need to hang out in their own neighborhoods. I do not live near the area but if I did, I would not be comfortable driving through the parking lot and seeing a crowd of people just hanging out in the lot. I think its not a good idea to allow vagrancy of any sort.

He knew he was being recorded and didn’t want to “Pull a Hoar”. The camera is the great equalizer.

The people were smart enough to record the interaction. FRPD has a well-deserved reputation for breaking the law and mishandling evidence. Luckily, there are cameras now.

    Hoar, Custodio, Pessoa, etc.
