Two Fall River grapplers are up for a fight next week with a lot on the line.

Aaron Hughes and Mitch Raposo are scheduled to fight in Cage Titans XL on August 18th at Plymouth Memorial Hall. Hughes and Kenny Champion are set to battle for the vacant Amateur Featherweight Championship. Amateur Flyweight Champion Raposo is putting his title up for a rematch with William Graustuck.

Raposo is 4-0, 19 years old, and graduated from Durfee High School. Mitch started training at 12 years old and has won multiple championships in kickboxing, wrestling, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. At 18 he started fighting in MMA where he won the Cage Titans Flyweight Championship on April 14 2018.

We asked Mitch about his upcoming fight. “I’m extremely excited for it. I am going to make a statement as to why I’m the number 1 ranked fighter in New England. I appreciate all of the love and support from Fall River and will proudly represent next weekend. Thank you to my gym Regiment Training Center and coaches Brian Raposo and Tommy Texieira.”

Hughes is 23 years old and born and raised in Fall River. He has won 3 fights in a row and all in the first round. After graduating from Diman, Aaron shortly began training for MMA. He will be fighting for his first amateur championship.

Aaron is excited and ready for his shot at the title. “I can’t wait. I hope all of Fall River comes out and supports me and watches me win that belt. It is going to be a crazy night.”

Headlining the card will be a Bantamweight Title Fight between champion Johnny Campbell and Jason Perrin.
