Tiverton man arrested in Saturday morning bank robbery in Fall River

Local police continue to investigate a Fall River bank robbery over the weekend.

According to Fall River Police Detective John Robinson, on Saturday September 7th, the Fall River Police Department received a call for, “suspicious activity” at the Southern Mass Credit Union located at 1101 Stafford Road. When Officers arrived on scene they were informed that a male had robbed the bank and had fled the area in a vehicle heading towards Rhode Island on Route 24 South. Officers were told that a male had been in the bank wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses. The suspect approached a teller, demanded money, and mentioned a gun.

Major Crimes Divisions Detective Lt. Huard, Detective Vertentes, and ID Detective Rose responded to the scene.

According to scanner transmissions, witnesses were helpful in keeping tabs on the suspect after leaving the bank.

The Tiverton Police Department assisted Fall River Police in the apprehension of the suspect and in the execution of a search warrant at the suspect’s address.

The suspect, identified as Randy Audet, 55, of 25 Stafford Road Tiverton, R.I., was arrested on a Fugitive from Justice Charge. Officer Amy Robinson will be requesting a warrant for Audet who is currently detained in Tiverton, R.I.
