The Narrows Center releases September event schedule

FALL RIVER— The Narrows Center offers another great roster of events during the month of September, including three completely free events!

Here’s the September schedule of upcoming events. Doors open at 7pm and shows start at 8pm, unless otherwise noted.

Tue, Sept 4. The Fixx – The Beach Tour. The British rock band celebrates the 35th anniversary of the release of their multi-platinum “Reach the Beach” album, playing it live front to back, with other fan favorites. $49 in Advance. $54 Day of Show.

Wed, Sept 5. “Synesthesia” Exhibition Reception and Artist Talk. Artist and musician, Lennie Peterson will be accompanied by guitarist, Mark Campbell and bassist, Tim Paul Weiner, as Peterson creates a large composer portrait in front of his audience. At the end of the 45-minute minute presentation, Peterson will join Campbell and Weiner to perform a closing piece. A one-hour reception in the gallery immediately follows the talk. FREE EVENT. 7pm.

Sat, Sept 8. Terry Bozzio. This legendary & award-winning melodic drummer tours with the largest drum kit you may ever see. $27 Advance. $30 Day of Show.

Sun, Sept 9. 17th Annual Narrows Festival of the Arts. This year’s festival will feature The Iguanas, Neal & the Vipers, Matthew Stubbs & the Antiguas, John Stein Trio, The Teledynes, Zionk Zulag & the Galactic Shag, Colorway, and School of Rock All Stars. MUSIC. ART. FOOD. FREE EVENT. 11AM-7PM.

Thu, Sept 13. Lecture Series: A Monument to Perseverance. Jim Ricci, author of The Newport Bridge, will speak about his recent book. Jim, a native Rhode Islander, holds a doctorate degree from Salve Regina University in Newport, where he explored the city’s efforts to reinvent itself from a sailor town to a tourist center following World War II. FREE.

Fri, Sept 14. The Garcia Project. The Garcia Project faithfully channels and projects the feelings, emotions and music that propelled the Jerry Garcia Band and the fans through many years of musical bliss. $25 Advance. $27 Day of Show.

Sat, Sept 15. Ronnie Earl. One of the most electrifying and soulful guitar players on the planet, Ronnie easily moves between blues, jazz and R&B to craft his signature sound. $32 Advance. $37 Day of Show.

Sun, Sept 16. Debra Mann Record Release Concert. Debra Mann celebrates the much-anticipated release of her new recording, Full Circle on Whaling City Sound. Full Circle features the music of Joni Mitchell, in celebration of her 75th year. $22 Advance. $25 Day of Show. Doors open at 6pm. Show starts at 7pm.

Thu, Sept 20. Davina and the Vagabonds. Since exploding onto the scene in 2005, Davina and the Vagabonds have grown from a down-and-dirty blues band into one of the most exciting acoustic ensembles on the international stage. $22 Advance. $25 Day of Show.

Fri, Sept 21. Peter Wolf and the Midnight Travelers. SOLD OUT.

Sat, Sept 22. NRBQ. The legendary NRBQ is still liable to play anything. Roaring rockabilly, transcendent pop-rock, roadhouse blues, Avant jazz, you name it. $30 Advance. $35 Day of Show.

Wed, Sept 26. An Evening with Nils Lofgren Acoustic Duo. Nils Lofgren is a legendary, world renowned singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of the E Street Band. $65 Advance. $70 Day of Show.

Thu, Sept 27. Shemekia Copeland. She belts out a raucous blues-rocker, fires up a blistering soul shouter, brings the spirit to a gospel-fueled R&B rave-up and digs deep down into a subtle, country-tinged ballad. $32 Advance. $37 Day of Show.

Fri, Sept 28. Paul Thorn Band. Paul Thorn has created an innovative and impressive career, pleasing crowds with his muscular brand of roots music – bluesy, rocking and thoroughly Southern American. $32 Advance. $37 Day of Show.

Sat, Sept 29. Mark Cutler & the Men of Great Courage and Becky Chace Band. Mark Cutler and The Men of Great Courage combine powerful lyrics with memorable melodies. For twenty years, Becky Chace has been carving out her place as one of Rhode Island’s most revered and prolific singer/songwriters. $22 Advance. $25 Day of Show.

Sun, Sept 30. The Weepies. On the strength of their simple yet insightful songwriting and distinctive harmonies, they quietly sold more than 1.5 million records with over 54 million streams on Spotify, 25+ million views on YouTube, and over 110k social media followers. $42 Advance. $47 Day of Show.
