Despite the severe loss that the Ohehmen family is facing, they are still thinking of other children who are ill.

Below is the obituary of Selina courtesy of Hathaway Funeral Home. Enclosed is service information and ways that you can help other children who are ill and/or fighting DIPG.

Selina Ann Oehmen, age 10, passed away on October 15, 2018, after a courageous battle with DIPG, an inoperable, terminal childhood brain cancer. She was the daughter of Kenneth A. Oehmen and Michelle L. M. (Macedo) Oehmen of Somerset.

Selina was a sweet, sassy girl who loved softball, Girl Scouts, arts and crafts, musical theatre, marching band, playing her cello and helping out at her church as an altar server and in the faith formation program. Selina made friends easily and was a 5th grader at North Elementary. Her smile and laughter could brighten any room. Selina had dreamed of being a scientist or art teacher someday. Her strength and grace in the face of this illness was truly an inspiration. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by two brothers, Adam K. Oehmen and Jonathan M. Oehmen; her maternal grandparents, Antonio and Diane (Boyer) Macedo of MA; her paternal grandmother, Kris Adams and her husband Roger Hertel of GA; her paternal grandfather Mark Oehmen and his wife Lori of IL; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, 4-7 PM in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset. A funeral mass will be held Monday, October 22 at 10 AM directly at St. Patrick’s Church, South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the The Tomorrow Fund Clinic at Hasbro Children’s Hospital https://www.tomorrowfund.org/support-us; The Cure Starts Now https://thecurestartsnow.org; or visitors to the funeral home may bring children’s art supplies which will be donated to a local school.
