Seekonk police officer arraigned on several domestic violence charges

A Seekonk police officer was arraigned in Taunton District Court Monday morning to face several domestic violence charges.

According to Gregg Miliote of tthe Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Gary Rushing, 38, is charged with Assault and Battery Serious Bodily Injury, Strangulation or Suffocation, and Assault and Battery on a Family/Household Member.

Rushing was released on personal recognizance with the condition that he abide by the restraining order issued, have no contact with the victim, and surrender all firearms. The DA’s office had requested that he be fitted with a GPS monitoring device as part of the terms of his bail. The judge denied that request.

He is due back in court June 18th for a Pretrial hearing.
