Second body found in waters off Barrington in three days
A male body was recovered from a small island in 100 Acre Cove near the Massachusetts and Rhode Island border on Sunday. The second body found in the waters off of Barrington in three days.
On Sunday, March 25, 2018 at approximately 11:00 AM, East Providence Police called to advise that a motorist traveling on Route 114 north bound saw what appeared to be a human body on a small island in 100 Acre Cove. Officers from East Providence and Barrington Police departments responded to the area and determined that the small island, approximately 500 feet from the shore line, was in the Town of Barrington. RI DEM also arrived on scene.
Members of the Barrington Fire Department were able to retrieve the deceased male body from the small island area and return him to the shoreline. At approximately 1:00 PM members of the State Medical Examiner’s Office arrived on scene and the deceased was turned over to them for identification and cause of death.
A body was spotted about 7 a.m. off the waters of Colt State Park on Friday by a quahogger.
