A Rhode Island man was arrested this past weekend after almost hitting two officers.

On September 8, 2018 at approximately 7:50 p.m., a black Nissan Armada, bearing a New Jersey license plate, was exiting Bobby G’s parking lot and almost struck two South Kingstown Police Department Bike Patrol Officers. The Officers knocked on the vehicle windows and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. The operator ignored them and drove away from the bars parking lot.

The SKPD Bike Patrol Officers pursued the suspect vehicle, which traveled south bound on Kingstown Road and was forced to stop in traffic at a red traffic signal (Dale Carlia intersection). The bike patrol officers caught up to and approached the suspect vehicle. The Officers identified the operator as David Mairs (age 52) of 118A Bonnet Shores Road, Narragansett, RI. Mairs admitted to consuming alcohol at Bobby G’s bar. Based on Mairs’ statements, actions and Standardized Field Sobriety Test results it was suspected that Mairs was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Mairs was arrested and processed at SKPD for DUI (BAC Unknown). Mairs will appear in Fourth Division District Court on September 20, 2018 for the criminal charge.

Mairs was issued a RITT summons for Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test and will appear in RITT on September 17, 2018.
