New England State Trooper nabs suspect on trip to Dunkin’ Donuts

On March 24, 2018 at 6:15 a.m., Troop K Troopers responded to a report of a robbery at the Dunkin Donuts store located at 221 Route 6 in Columbia, CT.

A store employee reported that a male subject had entered the store and selected some merchandise. The employee stated that the subject then approached the counter and took money out to pay, at which time she went to the cash register by the drive-up window. The employee stated that when she opened the cash register the subject walked through a hinged door partition in the counter, pushed her out of the way and took money from the register. The subject then fled the store on foot.

Trooper Marsh was in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot patronizing the store when he observed the subject run out of the front entrance with another Dunkin Donuts employee running after him.

Trooper Marsh announced his presence and ordered the subject to stop which he ignored. Trooper Marsh then exited his cruiser and gave chase, ultimately apprehending the subject who was identified as Wayne Squier 35 y/o of Columbia, CT.

Eastern District Major Crime Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. Squire was taken into custody and charged with Robbery 3rd, Larceny 6th, Breach of Peace 2nd, Interfering. and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Squire was detained on a $100,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear at G.A. 19-Rockville on 03/26/18.
