Massachusetts State Police investigating fatal crash in Seekonk

A crash this afternoon in Seekonk has turned deadly.

According to Massachusetts State Police, today, Friday, at about 12:50 P.M., a crash on Route 195 Westbound in Seekonk resulted in the death of an East Bridgewater man.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Fernando DaSilva indicates that a 72-year-old man from East Bridgewater was traveling on Route 195 Westbound in the area of Exit 1 in a 2009 Chevrolet Express when his vehicle rear-ended a trailer being towed by a Mack truck, which was also traveling westbound at the time.

The operator and sole occupant of the Chevrolet was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. The operator and sole occupant of the Mack truck, a 35-year-old man from Scituate, R.I., was uninjured.

This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Crime Scene Services, and troopers assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. No charges have been filed at this time.

State Police were assisted on scene by Seekonk Fire and EMS, Seekonk Police, and MassDOT.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
