The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section has added two new suspects to the department’s list of Most Wanted Sex Offenders.
RICHARD F. FLEURANT (pictured left), 79, classified as a Level 3 Sex Offender by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board, is wanted for two counts of failure to register as a sex offender as required by law. FLEURANT was convicted in 1977 for four counts of committing unnatural acts with a child under 16 in connection with multiple incidents that occurred in Weymouth the previous year. FLEURANT worked as building superintendent of an apartment complex and victimized teenage boys who frequented the premises. He received a lengthy state prison sentence and is currently in violation of his Lifetime Sex Offender Registration requirements. FLEURANT has additional prior convictions for carrying a machine gun, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, lewd and lascivious behavior, unnatural acts, and disseminating obscene material to a minor. He is white, 5’9” tall, about 185 lbs., with gray hair and brown eyes. He is possibly homeless and has past ties to Boston, Weymouth, and Central Massachusetts.
JOHN W. CORBETT (pictured right), 60, is wanted for failure to register as a sex offender as required by law. CORBETT is classified as a Level 3 Sex Offender by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board as a result of his 1990 conviction for aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering. The conviction stemmed from a 1989 incident in which CORBETT broke into a Newton home while the occupants slept and sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint. By failing to register as a sex offender, CORBETT is in violation of his Lifetime Sex Offender requirements.
CORBETT, who has a lengthy criminal history in Massachusetts, is white, about 6’ tall and 215 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on his left wrist, left upper arm, and right upper arm, and has scars on his right thigh, right fingers, left elbow, and abdomen. He has ties to Boston, Plymouth, Lowell, Waltham, Framingham, and Florida.
