The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a High Wind Warning, which is in effect from 7 AM to 4 PM EST Monday.

* Location…Coastal Plymouth and Bristol Counties in
Massachusetts and Newport and Washington Counties in Rhode
Island.

* Winds…West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Timing…Monday morning and afternoon.

* Impacts…The potential exists for trees and power lines to be
knocked down, causing power outages and property damage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A High Wind Warning is issued when sustained winds of 40 mph are expected for at least one hour, with gusts of 58 mph or greater at any time. Damage to trees, power lines, and property are possible with winds of this magnitude. Power outages are likely. Take action to secure loose outdoor objects.

FORECAST

Tonight a chance of rain, snow, and sleet before 11pm, then rain. Low around 32. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation expected.

Christmas Day we will have rain, mainly before 10am. High near 40. Breezy, with a northeast wind 9 to 14 mph becoming west 20 to 25 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
