The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton has expanded the Flash Flood Watch to include portions of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including the following areas, in Massachusetts, Bristol, Central and Southeast Middlesex, Essex, Norfolk, Plymouth, and Suffolk. In Rhode Island, Bristol, Kent, Newport, Southeast Providence, and Washington.

The watch is in effect through Sunday morning.

Periods of showers along with embedded thunderstorms will impact the region today and tonight with localized torrential rainfall. The potential exists for these heavy showers to train over the same locations. This will bring the risk for localized flash flooding, including some small rivers and streams.

Localized urban flash flooding is also possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
