The Fall River Police are investigating an early morning stabbing this past weekend.

According to Detective John Robinson, on Saturday September 8th at approximately 12 midnight, a 22-year-old male told Fall River Police Department Officer Erick Bettencourt that he had been stabbed during an altercation on Eagle Street near Joe’s Package Store. The victim told Ofc. Bettencourt that he was walking on Eagle Street with his 20-year-old girlfriend when two males and a female began calling him on. The victim stated it was dark and he could only see a white male with a beard and a dark-skinned male. He could not describe the female or the clothing anyone was wearing.

The victim stated he ‘squared off’ with the white male and was hit from behind. The victim stated he stepped back and felt ‘something wet’ on his back. He felt his shirt and realized he was bleeding. Both males and the female fled the area. The victim stated he and his girlfriend went to his car and drove to St. Anne’s Hospital. The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital as a precaution suffering from two ‘minor stab wounds’ to his lower back.

This is still an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Erick Bettencourt at 508-676-8511. You can also call the anonymous TIPS line at 508-672-8477 and leave tips anonymously.
